If you’re new to Questrade, just create your User ID and open an account in minutes. Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to upgrade to Questrade Plus with a 30-day free trial that lets you experience all its features firsthand.

Yes, your Questrade Plus benefits apply to all your accounts under your User ID. 

If you open a new account after choosing Questrade Plus, your Plus benefits and features apply to that new account, too! This also applies for any Joint or Corporate accounts under your User ID. 

Yes, with the addition of Questrade Plus, you will still have access to all of our platforms, including Questrade Trading, QuestMobile, as well as our advanced Edge Platforms (Edge Mobile, Edge Web, Edge Desktop). 

While some features may not be available to Questrade customers who haven’t signed up for Questrade Plus, you'll still be able to use each trading platform. Learn more about Questrade Plus. 

While the basic version of Passiv is still available to all Questrade customers at no cost, a Passiv Elite subscription is only included in Questrade Plus.

If purchased separately, Passiv Elite is $8.25/month. The good news? Questrade Plus only costs $11.95 CAD/month + tax—so you’ll get access to advanced features and benefits (like our P&L calculator and unlimited free journal requests) for only a few dollars more a month. 

Questrade Plus includes free access to the Real-Time Streaming Package (valued at $9.95/month), which gives you up-to-the second data on stocks, ETFs, and options, sourced right from exchanges to maximize accuracy.

Already have a Real-Time Streaming Package subscription? For just $2 more, you can unlock Plus features that help you use that data, like advanced charting and the Market View heatmap widget. And don't worry about overlapping fees: your Real-Time Streaming Package subscription fees will stop as soon as your Questrade Plus subscription begins.

Already have an Advanced Streaming Package subscription? If you have the Advanced Streaming Package (which gives you Level 2 data as well as the Level 1 data from the Real-Time Streaming Package), you'll receive a $9.95 monthly discount when you sign up for Questrade Plus to reimburse you for the overlap!

Let's see some examples of how Questrade Plus interacts with market data subscriptons:

Let’s say you subscribe to the Real-Time Data Package and sign up to Questrade Plus. From that point on, your real-time data will be provided through your Questrade Plus subscription, so your Real-Time Data Package billing will stop. 

Since Questrade Plus is providing your data, ending your Questrade Plus subscription will also end your real-time data, placing you back onto the Free Data Package. To keep real-time data after cancelling your Questrade Plus subscription, you will need to re-subscribe to the Real-Time Data Package.

Now, let’s say you’re currently subscribed to the Advanced Streaming Package for $44.95/month USD, and you sign up for Questrade Plus for $11.95/month CAD.

Since your Advanced Streaming Package already has the market data included in Plus, you’ll get a $9.95/month CAD monthly discount on your market data fees for the duration of your Questrade Plus subscription. And, since Questrade Plus is providing a discount instead of data, ending your Questrade Plus subscription will not impact your data streaming.

The pricing shown is applicable to retail, non-professional subscribers. If you’re considered a professional for market data reporting purposes, there are higher costs for Questrade Plus (to reflect the increased cost of market data). 

Please note: professionals on a free trial of Questrade Plus will receive it for free, but will be charged incrementally for the professional market data. Professional market data fees can be found here.

Click here to upgrade today or log in to your account and look for Questrade Plus in the top menu. From there, just follow the simple sign up steps and you’ll be all good to go. Your market data package will be available when the markets next open.

There are no restrictions on when you can upgrade to Questrade Plus—whether you do it on the first day of the month, or the last, you can. Whenever you upgrade mid-month, the price of Questrade Plus will be pro-rated based on the number of days left in the month.

Just log in to your account and look for Questrade Plus in the top menu, then follow the simple sign-up instructions to get started. Your benefits will take full effect by the next trading day. 

For example: You upgrade to Questrade Plus on the 18th of the month, and it’s a Sunday. All your benefits will be available by the next trading day. Because you’re upgrading mid-month, the cost of the Questrade Plus will be pro-rated and you’ll only be charged for the remaining days of the month. 

You can enjoy Questrade Plus for the rest of the month, and will be charged the normal price of $11.95 + tax at the start of the next month. 

Please note that there are no rebates or refunds for the unused portion of Questrade Plus if you decide to switch back.

If you decide to cancel your Questrade Plus access, you can do so by logging into your account and selecting the Questrade Plus menu from the top navigation bar. Then, tap Manage access and select Cancel access. 

You’ll keep your Questrade Plus benefits until the end of the current month. At the start of the next month, you’ll automatically return to the Questrade experience you had before, but you can sign up for Questrade Plus again at any time.

We recommend cancelling at least 24 hours before the end of the month to make sure you aren’t charged for the next month. 

Please note that we can’t provide any refunds or rebates for the unused portion that you’ve already paid for.

Yes—whenever you first sign up for Questrade Plus, your first 30 days will be free. Start your free trial at any time by logging into your account (see details below or view the offer terms here). 

By starting your free trial, you agree to enroll in a Questrade Plus subscription that starts immediately after your Trial Period and automatically renews until cancelled. If you cancel before the end of the free-trial period, you won’t be charged. 

If you enjoy Questrade Plus and don’t cancel, your billing will start once your 30-day free trial ends. Please note, there is a maximum of one free trial per Questrade customer.

Get Questrade Plus by logging into your account and selecting Questrade Plus from the top navigation bar. You’ll receive all the benefits, features, market data packages, and support that comes with the upgrade for free for 30 days. 

The free trial starts the day after you activate it, and lasts for 30 days.

You can manage your free trial access by logging into your Questrade account and selecting Questrade Plus from the top navigation bar. From there, tap Manage access and select Cancel access. 

If you choose to cancel your trial, you’ll retain your access to Questrade Plus benefits until the end of the trial period. You can’t resume a cancelled trial, though, so to get access again you’ll have to sign up for the regular monthly price.

Questrade Plus is billed on the first day of each month, so, if you decide to cancel, we recommend doing so at least 48 hours before the trial ends to ensure everything processes in time.

You can update your billing information at any time during your free trial and afterward in your Questrade account. To update your payment method go to: Questrade Plus > Manage access  > Change payment method. 

A credit card is not required to sign up for Questrade Plus. However, you will need to set up a payment method (credit card, or payment from your Questrade account) in order to start your free trial.

There are two easy ways to pay for Questrade Plus. You can pay directly from your Questrade account or using a credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. 

1. Pay directly from your Questrade account at the start of each month 
   All you need to do is log in to your account, go to Questrade Plus, hit Manage access, then choose a payment method. Select the Questrade account option and choose the self-directed account you would like to pay from. Then, enter your details to confirm your payment profile. 
2. Pay using a credit card
   Log into your account. Go to Questrade Plus, hit Continue, then choose a payment method. Select Credit Card as your payment method. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Then, enter your details to confirm your payment profile. 

Please note your Questrade account or credit card will be billed $11.95 plus tax on the first day of each month. At this time, we’re unable to accept pre-paid credit cards. 

When you sign up for Questrade Plus for the first time, you’ll start off with a free 30-day trial. At the end of the trial, your first bill, which will be pro-rated based on the number of days remaining in that month, will be processed. Subsequent months will be billed on the first day of the month for the rest of the time you’re signed up.

Your payment history will show up in your access management page. Log into your account, select Questrade Plus, then tap Manage access. Your payments will show up underneath your payment method.

You can change or update your payment information at any time by logging into your Questrade account and looking for Questrade Plus in the top menu. Select Manage access. Then, click Change payment method and choose whether you’d like to pay with your credit card or directly from your Questrade account.

If you need to update your credit card, you will need to re-add your credit card details. Then, select Continue and confirm your payment profile. 

If there is an error or issue processing your payment, we'll send you email reminders so you have a chance to update your payment information. This will be done whether you’ve set up direct payments from your account or a credit card.

We’ll attempt to re-process your payment for three days so that you don’t lose access to your benefits. But, if by the fourth day of the month we haven’t received payment, your Questrade Plus access will be deactivated. You can always log back into your account and upgrade to Questrade Plus at any time. 

If you fully close or transfer out all the Questrade accounts attached to your user ID, you will cancel Questrade Plus. 

However, if you have at least one active account, your Questrade Plus access will still be enabled for that account and your monthly billing will continue as usual.

What qualifies as an active account?

• An account for which you haven’t submitted any closure, total withdrawal, or transfer request; or,
• An account you have started to close (either by withdrawing all funds and investments or transferring) but haven’t submitted an account closure request.

When you submit the account closure request and your account is closed, your Questrade Plus will be cancelled and you won’t be charged a monthly fee. 

Here are a few of the different billing scenarios that could occur if your account is still active. 

Insufficient funds

If you have a registered account with insufficient funds and have selected your Questrade account as your payment method, Questrade will not process the transaction. We’ll reach out to you over email, asking you to fund your account or change your payment method. This reminder will be sent three times. If your payment still does not work on the fourth day of the month payment is due, we will automatically de-activate your Questrade Plus access.

Credit card as payment but all accounts are transferred out

If you transfer out all of your accounts and your credit card is your payment method, you won’t be charged for Questrade Plus, as long as your account is closed. 

For example: if you transfer all of your investments away from Questrade to another brokerage and complete the account closure request, your Questrade Plus access will be automatically cancelled and your credit card won’t be charged moving forward.

Remember, all of your Questrade accounts must be fully closed for Questrade Plus to cancel automatically. Cancel your Questrade Plus manually if you have concerns about whether your account will be closed or not. 

Account closure with other active accounts

If you close the Questrade account that you’re billed from but have another account with sufficient funds, the payment won’t automatically change to use the account with funds. This change has to be done manually. In this case, you wouldn’t be charged but you will, however, lose access to all your Questrade Plus benefits.

For example: you have an RRSP and a TFSA, and have Questrade Plus. You’re billed directly from your RRSP. If you close the RRSP, the fee won’t automatically come from the TFSA, even if it has funds. Instead, your Questrade Plus access will be cancelled. 

Account balance withdrawal

If you’ve withdrawn your account balance but not fully closed your account, you’ll still be charged for Questrade Plus. 

For example: you sell all the stocks in your margin account and transfer the cash out to your bank, but don’t submit the account closure request. Even though there's no money in the account, it’s still considered active. 

There are also a few scenarios that we’ll cancel Questrade Plus for you:

Unsuccessful credit card charges

If we attempt to charge your credit card three times unsuccessfully (including if your credit card has expired), we will cancel your Questrade Plus access. 

For example: You have set up credit card payments. We’ll attempt to bill your card on the 1st of the month. If that does not go through, we’ll email you to let you know there’s been a payment issue and attempt to bill you again the following day. We’ll repeat this process on the 2nd and 3rd day of the month if the payment issue persists. After three failed attempts, your Questrade Plus access will be cancelled and you’ll lose access to its features.

Account closure or freeze

If the selected self-directed account for payment is closed or frozen, we will cancel Questrade Plus. 

For example, if you decide to close your Questrade trading account, Questrade Plus will be cancelled and you’ll lose access to its features.
