The level 1 quote

Below the chart, you’ll see a detailed level 1 quote broken up into three main sections.

At the very top, you’ll see the security’s Bid and Ask prices, along with some price ranges and other information.

  • The Bid is the highest price traders are currently willing to pay to buy this security.
  • The Ask is the lowest price traders are currently willing to accept to sell this security.

Below the Bid & Ask, you’ll see the Day and 52 week price ranges. The small line charts show the current price per share in relation to the prices over the last day, or year.

Level 1 quote bid and ask

Bid size and Ask size show how many “board lots” are available to trade at the given bid and ask prices.

  • Board lots correspond to 100 shares of most securities
  • When viewing an Options quote, sizes are equal to the number of contracts

The Open represents the price at market open (9:30 am ET).

Previous close shows the price at market close (4:00 pm ET) from the previous trading day.

Below the bid and ask information in the level 1 quote, we’ll see important information about the security’s volume, dividend and much more.

Starting from the top, Volume shows how many shares of this security have traded hands since the market has opened today.

Avg volume shows the average number of shares traded each day during regular hours.

Market cap shows the “worth” of a company by multiplying the number of shares by the current price.

L1 quote volume EPS Dividend

Shares shows how many shares of this security are currently available to be traded on the open market.

Dividend shows the dollar amount of the current dividend issued per share (if one is paid out).

Yield shows the total annual dividend represented as a percentage of the security’s current price per share.

EPS represents the annual Earnings per share of this security, while P/E (price to earnings ratio) compares the share price against the EPS.

Ex-date shows the first date the stock trades excluding the dividend.

To qualify for the dividend, you must fully own the shares before this date. Please remember to take into consideration the settlement time of T+1 business day for trades to be considered “finalized”. In this example above, you would need to purchase the shares by November 2nd to qualify for the dividend.

Earnings date shows the anticipated earnings date for a company. This date may shift due to holidays and other factors, and the date shown in the platform is not finalized until a company confirms their earnings a few weeks prior to release.

At the bottom of the detailed level 1 quote, we’ll see more key information about the security.

The top left shows which Market or exchange this security trades on natively, while the top right shows the Currency this security trades in (or tracks for index quotes).
